Professor Marc H. Ellis — widely recognized as one of the most influential Jewish thinkers of his generation — spoke in Winnipeg this Wednesday on November 18, 2009 at Knox United Church, taking on the hard, moral questions about Jewish and Christian support for the State of Israel.
Sponsored by departments of the University of Manitoba — together with Independent Jewish Voices (IJV), The United Jewish People’s Order (UJPO) and Knox United Church — Dr. Ellis’ Winnipeg speaking engagements (part of a Canada-wide tour) addressed questions and ideas contained in his new book, “Judaism Does Not Equal Israel,” which notes the danger to Judaism in identifying with a nation-state.
